Welcome to the otherworld.

So THIS is the afterlife?
WALKER
Only took you eight years to finally
wake up out of that corpse!
FRED

WALKER
Well it’s not your mother.
And if we’re gonna get out
of here, we gotta work together!
FRED
I was thinking about the quiet countryside.
Take a nap on the front porch in my rocking chair.
Listen to the birds chirp.
Wearing a nice pair of new shoes.
WALKER
Wouldn’t you rather save the world from these
rotting corpses? Help those in need?
FRED

GOOD GUY
Help me, please!
FRED
Say mister, you see a shoe store around here,
my feet are killin’ me!
GOOD GUY

WALKER

MAX
It’s about time you rotten
son of a bitch.
Well, it’s not a sword, but it’ll

MAX

WALKER
Ya stupid bastard,
can’t see the bridge through that damn fog.
FRED
We need a map!
WALKER
I told ya climbing up here was a waste of time.
FRED

Doesn’t she remind you of that nurse? The one
who brought me my walker on the bridge,
when all hope was lost?
WALKER

help us find a new pair of loafers?
FRED

WALKER
Hold on! Don’t risk yourself for her.

FRED

WALKER
She’s handling herself just fine.

pressure on me.

FRED
If there’s one thing I’ve learned, follow your own
set of rules, not everyone else’s.
WALKER

SARAH
(Nods to thank Fred, patting him on the back)
FRED
Say there lady, you see
a shoe store around here?
SARAH
(Nods her head no)
FRED
Well what about
a shortcut to the bridge of Rott?
SARAH
(Nods her head YES)
FRED
Yeah?
Which way?
SARAH
(Points with her hand)
FRED
If you can show us the way, we’d
really appreciate it. We did save
your life afterall.
SARAH
(Nods her head YES and begins walking)
FRED
What’s the matter, don’t you talk?
SARAH
(Nods her head no)
FRED
What happened?
SARAH
(Points to the Stalker heading their way, and points
to her throat, with a quick flashback of the Stalker strangling her,
then her breaking free)
FRED
Not him again!
STALKER
Ahhhhhh!
MAX
Harry! It’s me, Max!
FRED
Name’s Fred. And this is Walker.
WALKER
Hello.
MAX
Wait a second,
you’re Harry’s lost brother, aren’t ya?
The one I read about in the newspaper!
FRED
And this lady over here is… Hey, where’d she go?
MAX
Sarah went to restore her powers
at the nuclear plant.
You stay away from her, you hear me?
FRED
And how do you know her name? She can’t talk!
MAX
You must have just woken up.
You want answers? Then follow me.
RENZER
Just step through that door, and
freedom is yours.
GUY
This door?
RENZER
As promised.
RENZER
The Stalker will be most pleased with your
sacrifice.
Hm hm hm hm hm!
RENZER
Stay back Stalker, these are my friends!
GUY
Nooo!!!!
FRED
How did you keep the Stalker away?
RENZER
You’ll find out soon enough.
MAX
Okay Renzer, here’s another recruit,
now how about your promise?
RENZER
Fine. Max, wait outside.
RENZER
Max is one of my new scouts. He finds
recruits for our cause.
FRED
So why am I here, dammit?
RENZER
Because of the Stalker. Without him, none of
this exists. Destroy the Stalker, and you destroy yourself.
And everything with it!
FRED
Listen, just show me the Bridge of Rott.
RENZER
Of course… You know Sarah?
FRED
Yeah?
RENZER
Then bring her to me. She owes me.
FRED
You gonna tell me how
you keep the Stalker away?
RENZER
Do we have a deal?
FRED

RENZER

your dreams.
FRED
I need to find Sarah.
MAX
I told you, she’s radioactive. You hang
around her you’ll be dead. Is that what
you want?!
FRED
But she’s got those powers!
MAX
And she’s dying from it.
FRED
But this is the otherworld!
MAX
And there are rott worms still crawling around.
Use your head!
FRED
So what’s the key for?
FRED
You brought me out here to eat hamburgers?
MAX
Hamburgers? These are cheeseburgers!
And they’re all mine!
MAX
Help!
FRED
Maybe that’s the secret entrance!
MAX
Pull me up, quick!
WALKER
Just a minute Fred…
What’s in it for us?
FRED
Where’s the bridge of Rott?!
MAX
I’ll take you there!
Pull me up!
MAX
Hey Renzer, This is key don’t work!
RENZER
Fred, where’s Sarah?
FRED
I don’t know.
RENZER
You want the Bridge of Rott?
FIND HER!
RENZER
Sorry Max, I have so many keys!
I tell you what, go inside that door,
there are more keys. It’s
bound to be one of those.
MAX
I’m not so good with keys, maybe
you can find it for me.
RENZER
I was just in there last week. Not a
Rott worm in sight!
MAX
Well, that’s the end of him.
FRED
You think he’s dead?
MAX
Well, he ain’t moving and he’s got no head. I think he’s dead.
FRED
Well, that’s the end of that. Let’s find the bridge of Rott.
MAX
You were right about Renzer.
FRED
Let’s just find Sarah,
she knows where the bridge is.
MAX
Again, you follow her, you’ll be dead!
WALKER
I’m not seeing any shoe stores around here, Fred.
FRED
Why you following us, Max?
MAX
If I can’t have my dream,
maybe you can have yours.
FRED
I said the bridge of Rott, not the Wall of Rott.
By the way, where the hell is Max? We’re about to
have company.
MAX
Is there any other way?
SARAH
(Nods no)
RENZER
That will be far enough!
MAX
Open the door, Renzer!
RENZER
If you wish to pass, toss over your
weapons!
MAX
So we can all perish? Sarah, blast down
that door.
RENZER
You’re all doomed!
FRED
Looks like we’re trapped.
MAX
(facing the zombies)
Welcome to the City of Rott.
MAX
(Max sees the Stalker, and taps Fred to look,
who is shocked it’s still alive)
See that Renzer?!
We’ll destroy your precious Stalker!
Now open the door!
RENZER
Your weapons first!
MAX
Say goodbye to the Otherworld!
RENZER
So be it.
FRED
See that? Without Sarah,
the Stalker would’ve caught us.
MAX
Too bad she’s almost dead.
FRED
She needs help!
MAX
Where the hell is Renzer?
He knows a doctor in these parts.
FRED
A doctor? Then no time to waste!
FRED
Finally.
WALKER
Well what are you waiting for, try them on!
FRED
Just my luck.
Finally reach my dream, and it’s
filled with Rott.
WALKER
Well, they say it’s not what happens,
it’s what you do that matters!
Now let’s find another shoe store!
DOC
Help me, and I’ll help her.
FRED
Are you the doctor?
DOC
Find me a pair of legs, and I’ll save her.
FRED
Legs? You mean like chicken legs?
DOC
You have two legs, right?
DOC
I need them to wear my new shoes!
DOC
Then use them to go back to the mall of Rott. Inside you’ll
find my legs in the clothing store.
FRED
What the hell they doing in there?
DOC
They fell off in my rush to escape.
Find my legs now, or she dies.
WALKER
You’re not serious, are you Fred? Look at all
the crap we had to endure to get this far? And you
wanna go back for some dumb girl? We’re almost there!
MAX
Hey Fred, let me talk to this guy alone for
a second.
MAX
Okay Fred, let’s find this guy’s legs. But first we
need to eliminate Renzer.
FRED
There’s no time! You stay here, I’ll get the legs.
MAX
Let me get them, I’m a hell of a lot faster. You stay
here and watch out for Renzer. Don’t let the Stalker through.
Keep Sarah safe.
FRED
(The Doctor hops off his skateboard and lets Fred have it)
No way! Since when do you care about her?
I’ll be back in a hurry, trust me.
MAX
You really think you can trust this guy?
FRED
(The Doctor tosses a machine gun and hand gun to Fred)
If he can save her.
WALKER
You sure we won’t get lost?
This is a big city afterall.
And you got a bad case of brain worms.
They took away your youth. Ruined your life.
You’re an old man now. She’ll never love you.
You should’ve left me with Max.
You’ll never make it back.
FRED
Walker, shut the hell up.
WALKER
Hey Fred? We almost there yet?
FRED
Almost where?
WALKER
The bridge of Rott.
FRED
Bridge? Oh yeah. Wait a second. Weren’t we supposed
to find someplace else?
WALKER
Those brain worms have really dug in, haven’t they?
Memory loss, hallucinations, rapid old age.
FRED
Aren’t those side effects of Zombifate medicine?
WALKER
We’re lost, jackass!
FRED
My head hurts. Walker?
WALKER
What now?
FRED
Why are we made to suffer in this world?
WALKER

FRED

WALKER
Because it’s our job to make the most of it!
FRED
Now where the hell is that mall?
WALKER
I can’t believe we ended up this way in life.
Nothing turned out as planned, stuck in a living hell.

Too busy to save an old lady?

WALKER

Say mister, you know where the Mall of Rott is?
GOOD ZOMBIE
(Points in a direction)

WALKER
I’ll believe it when I see it.

WALKER
I don’t believe it.
FRED
That’s the mall of rott. Let’s look for the
back entrance.
FRED
What the hell am I here for again?
WALKER
A new pair of shoes.
FRED
Oh yeah, a pair of legs.
WALKER
You already got two legs, what the hell you need
another pair for?
FRED
Not for me dumb ass. To save Sarah!
WALKER
Now what?
WALKER
Well, one’s better than none.
Hope he’s a good hopper.
WALKER
So this is the afterlife, huh Fred?
I thought it was supposed to have clouds
and be all peaceful. Instead, we’re still stuck
in a living hell where life eats life.
If someone designed this nightmare they
must not like you very much.
But I know you’ll say It’s not what happens, or how many
times things go wrong in life and everyone has what you don’t,
it’s what you do that matters. Right?
FRED
Right!
WALKER
So what are you going to do about those
brain worms that turned you into an old man long before your time?
You should be 26 years old right now. You think Sarah will ever
go for an old geezer like you? You’re nuts! It’s too late for you, Fred.
Move on, let go and find an old lady. Forget this stupid quest.
FRED
Well. It could always be worse.
FRED
It’s worse.
WALKER
Told you we’d get lost.
WALKER
Never trust a zombie.
WALKER
Can’t believe we made it.
Now how do we get back inside?
FRED
Max!
WALKER
Looks like your plan went to hell, Fred.
Renzer probably killed them all.
FRED

MAX
Where’s the other leg?
FRED
I couldn’t find it.
MAX
You jackass, he needs two legs!
Get in there, ya kill the zombies,
then ya get the hell out of there!
FRED
Like hell.
Where’s Renzer?
MAX

Here’s your leg-
How’s Sarah?
DOC
Where’s the other
one? This isn’t even the right leg!
FRED
Left leg or right, this was the last one in stock.

MAX
Hold on, you said you’d help me too!
DOC

DOC
Forgive me, I’m not used to one leg.
MAX
Was that the medicine?
DOC
There’s a hospital next to the mall with
more medicine. Sarah knows
where. Use this key to unlock it.
(He puts the key in Fred’s shirt pocket)
Find my other leg.
And if you spot my dog, bring him back too.
FRED
(holding his walker to the Doc)
Like hell. Save her Doc, or you’ll need two
new arms!
WALKER
All that for nothing.
Told ya she wasn’t worth it.
FRED
She’s alive.
That’s what really matters.
MAX
Sorry Fred.
FRED
You don’t even care about her.
MAX
Maybe that’s why she picked me.
Besides, you’re too old for her.
WALKER
Life’s not fair, you know that.
If you make a plan, expect it to break.
The less you care, the simpler it gets.

MAX
Fred, you wanna go back
with me to find his leg?
FRED
Sorry Max. Why do you need Medicine?
MAX
(showing his arm to Fred)
Got a case of skin worms. They’re
not lethal, but they keep me up at night.
FRED
Join the club. I got brain worms.
MAX
Well then we both need it!
FRED
I’m sorry, I can’t do it.
MAX
What if that medicine can make
you young again? Isn’t that worth fighting for?
FRED
Doc, is that possible?
DOC
In the otherworld.
FRED
Walker?
WALKER
You’d kill me if you were cured.
Is that what you want?
MAX
How the hell we kill him now?
FRED
Until we figure it out, the bridge sounds
pretty good right now.
MAX
So much for that dream.
WALKER
Finally, the bridge of Rott!
RENZER
Stalker! It’s me, Renzer!
Please. Remember all the sacrfices
I brought you. You need me!
I know where they’re heading.
I can lead you there! Please! Noooo!!
MAX
What good is crossing the bridge if
he follows us?
FRED
He owns the City of Rott. Not the wilderness.
MAX
Nothing goes right, does it?
FRED
It’s not what happens, it’s what you do that matters.
Choose confidence, not fear.
MAX
If you say so.
FRED
Now let’s kick some zombie ass!
WALKER
Max was right, she infected you.
Along with her Powers!
MAX
Is that it?
FRED
One more try.
MAX
Damn. Nice shot Fred.
You saved our lives.
FRED
Did I? There’s no way back now.
Say goodbye to the cure.
MAX
You heard the Doctor. Without
his help, that medicine
was poison. We can’t always get
what we want. But we did cross
the bridge.
FRED
Yeah, we did, didn’t we?
MAX
Like you said Fred, it’s not what
happens in life, it’s what you do
that matters. We can always build a boat.
Now lets go find that stinkin’
farm house, sit on the damn porch,
and listen to some stupid birds chirp.
FRED
Took the words right out of my mouth.
Sarah?
MAX
This is the life… Almost.
(looking at his arm with the skin worms)
FRED
I never did get a new pair of shoes.
WALKER
I don’t hear any birds chirping.
FRED
Walker, shut the hell up.
FRED
Well, at least the Stalker’s gone.
MAX
Renzer said when the Stalker dies, so does
the otherworld.
FRED
Looks like we’re still here.
MAX
Yeah. Still here…
FRED
Where you going?
MAX
That boat won’t build itself.
FRED
